Røros Folk Festival was organized for the first time in 2015 after an idea by folk musicians Olav Luksengård Mjelva and John Ole Morken, both freelance musicians from the Røros region.
We focus on providing cultural experiences within a broad "folk"-term.

Folkemusikkscena Røros
The festival is organized by folkemusikkscena Røros, an association consisting of røros folkedanslag, Glåmos Spellmannslag and Brekken Spell- og danselag.
Program committee
The program committee is a group consisting of people interested in folk music and culture from the Røros region. They are responsible for the program for the festival.
The committee consists of:

Sangerhuset
Most of our concerts take place in Sangerhuset, the blue-green house at the top of Bergmannsgata, popularly known as the Pols-mecca.
sangerhuset can in many ways be described as the heart of folk music and dance in Røros. The folk dance group rehearse here every Monday, and our spellmannslag have played countless hours for dancers. The building has simply become the core for the dissemination and practice of folk music and dance in Røros.
